Winery Visit
It was nice to be able to sleep in this morning! I didn’t get up until close to 8:30 a.m. The visit to ChrisaMari Winery was definitely fun. We went with dh’s sister and her husband. Dh and I have never done anything like this before. We both enjoy an occasional glass of wine, but due to the various pain medications I take, I tend to avoid alcohol. We tasted seven different wines. SIL (sister-in-law) and her dh really liked the reds, which were very dry. I never knew chocolate could change the taste of wine like it did. It was suggested we try chocolate with the red wines. There was a pumpkin wine, SIL and I really liked this, but the guys did not care for this selection at all. We came home with a bottle of cranberry and one called bed time red. I cannot wait to serve it at Christmas and see what everyone else thinks of our choices.
Dh and I did get more baking done. We made thumbprint, ribbon and spritz cookies, along with Oreo truffles. Some of our Christmas gifts will be tins with a variety of our baked goodies. What are your favorites to bake for the Holidays? My mom was famous for her fudge (not a favorite of mine though). Dh’s mom is famous for fudge as well. I’m not sure what we are famous for, other than we do it! Not many of our friends do any Holiday baking, or baking at all. I would like to say I am a wonderful cook; I can cook, not sure about wonderful though. Dh is the cook in our house. He is/was the picky eater. Ds and I are the clean up crew. Ds is becoming a great cook, too. We all tend to get into the baking though.
